リン・スチュアート弁護士が釈放されました。
昨年12月31日、連邦判事がリンの特赦（Compassionate Release）を決定し、ただちに執行されました。リンは、弁護士としての活動が「テロへの支援活動」に当たるとして「愛国者法」違反で懲役10年の判決を受け、テキサス州カ－スウェルの連邦メディカルセンター（FMC) で服役していました。肺がんが転移し、FMCの専門医も彼女の余命は12カ月と発言するような状態になったため、全世界に救援運動が呼びかけられました。それに応えて、「アメリカのすべての州、南極を除くすべての大陸の８０カ国から、４万の署名が集まった」と報告されています。星野再審連絡会議も署名を送り、在日アメリカ大使館に申し入れを行いました。次は、星野文昭さんです。２０１４年の闘いで星野さんを取り戻そう。

Well, the impossible takes a little longer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We learned this morning that the US Attorney's office has made the motion for my compassionate release and that the Order was on Judge Koeltl's desk. Since on the last go-round he stated in Court that he would treat it "favorably", we are now just waiting expectantly.
不可能を実現するには時間を要します！！連邦検事局が私の特赦を決定し、その命令書がKoeltl判事の机上にあることを今朝知りました。前回の法廷以来、彼はそうなれば「好意的に」処理するとしているので、期待したいと思います。
The wonderful thing is that Ralph is here in Ft Worth for a visit and will bring me back to NYC with him. We don't know when but the rules state that the warden has 2 days to let me go after he receives the order so it could be as early as Friday or a few days more. Whatever it is, I can't stop crying tears of Joy !! I can't stop thinking of all the marvelous people worldwide who made this happen … you know because each of you played an integral role. My daughter Z is already lining up Sloan Kettering and we will have to see if there is a probation qualification attached to the Order and how it will affect me. After that Ralph will start making arrangements to rent Yankee Stadium for the Welcome Home. ... Smile

Federal Judge John G. Koeltl ordered Compassionate Release on Tuesday,
December 31st, for renowned attorney Lynne Stewart. Judge Koeltl's order
was in response to the request from the Director of the Federal Bureau

for the Southern District of New York.

(CNN) -- A federal judge ordered the "compassionate release" Tuesday of a former defense lawyer imprisoned for aiding a convicted terrorist's communication from prison to his terrorist group.

U.S. District Judge John Koeltl granted a motion filed by federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Prisons to reduce the sentence of outspoken lawyer Lynne Stewart, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2010.

私たちは、無実の政治犯・星野文昭を１日も早く取り戻すために組織された「星野さんをとり戻そう！全国再審連絡会議」（http://fhoshino.u.cnet-ta.ne.jp/）です。
星野文昭は、１９７１年、日米安保体制の抜本的強化を目的とした沖縄返還協定の批准に反対する闘いに立ちました。彼は１９７５年に逮捕され、それ以降３９年間、獄中で無期懲役と闘い続けています。
私たちは、この運動を進める中で、リン・スチュアートのことを知りました。彼女は、貧困・抑圧、差別・排外主義と真正面から向き合い、依頼人と共に全身全霊をもって不正義と対決する弁護士です。リン・スチュアートが弁護士としての活動を理由に、２００１年に制定された希代の悪法PATRIOT Act によって「テロへの支援活動」をでっち上げられ、２００２年に逮捕されたことに対して激しい怒りを覚えるものです。

Now another month has passed and I am getting increasingly irritable that these jokers are so cavalier with my life and what time I have left. (I also am getting weaker.)

My application for compassionate release is moving but glacially (Are there any glaciers left? Only in the bureaucracy...). We learned that the request has left the General Counsel's office of the Bureau of Prisons in Washington and is now being considered by an "Independent Committee" (whatever that means). From there it will ostensibly go to the Director, Mr. Samuels, for the final recommendation and request for a motion to the Judge.

A major milestone has been reached in the struggle for Lynne Stewart's freedom.
4月26日のリン・スチュアートの手紙によれ、カーズウェルFMC（病気の受刑者を収容する施設）の所長が特別釈放を決定して連邦刑務所局に送った。
Lynne Stewart wrote on April 26 to confirm that the Wardent FMC Carswell recommended Compassionate Release to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

With this dramatic development, the International Campaign to Save the Life of Lynne Stewart crossed a critical threshold. We directed our attention immediately to Charles E. Samuels, Jr., the Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Following two expedited communications from former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, a probation officer charged with inspecting the residence designated for Lynne Stewart's recovery was dispatched to the home of her son, attorney.
Geoffrey Stewart. Soon afterwards, we were notified that the residence was approved.

Thus, another hurdle has been overcome, paving the way for Lynne Stewart'sCompassionate Release.

Dear Mr. Samuels:
Our friends in the United States informed us about serious health problem of Lynne Stewart, our colleague, and abuse in her prison.
アメリカの友人たちは、我々の同僚であるリン・スチュアートに関する深刻な健康問題と刑務所における虐待を知らせてきた。
Lynne Stewart was unjustly charged for “helping terrorism” and sentenced to 10 years in prison under the USA Patriot Act. Recently, it is confirmed that her breast cancer is spreading. Her doctor said that it was the worst case he had ever seen.

Despite this very serious health problem, the prison authority gave her no adequate medical treatment. On top of it, the prison authority puts shackles on her wrists and ancles before, during and after therapies and surgery.

Lynne Stewart meets every rational and humane criterion for compassionate
release."
